Alec Soth :
He's an American photographer, and his photography is described as having a cinematic feel with different types of elements including folklore with story behind the meaning. He is widely known for his documentary photography. Alec Soth creates large scale photographs; this would be the main difference from seeing his images in person at the gallery and on the internet. How he attended the photographs to be and being able to closely see detail in his images. He is widely known for his work on different type of book forms. In his project " open road", he captures very truthful images including landscape photographs such as the naigara falls and also very intimate images to show love and affection. This gives the viewer and insight on other people's lives. His work could be argued on if it is positive or not. Some may disagree because it could be seen as reducing certain people in terms of their class. His work also describes the difference between a person and their community. One reason on why Alec Soth captures life on how it truly is, is due to the fact that he is a photojournalist. This gives a sense of vulnerability due

Richard learoyd:
His work is very different to Soth in the way that he captures images in still motion and focuses it on the specific topic. He is a still life photographer, who uses large papers for his work. This gives the impression that his work is life size. His images have little to no film grain on his work due to the camera obscura. His subject matter in his photographers are mostly humans, still objects and dead animals. Some may not like his work due to gruel and unpleasant look that has been portrayed, may give a negative view. For example the dead horse with blood dripping down may have many interpretations regarding this but instantly people will have a disgusted view against this photograph. Others may be intrigued by the way the photographer has captured blood dripping so elegantly.

What I have learnt:
From sloths work, I have learnt that the style of minimal photography is very effective due to the fact that it allows the viewer the interpret more without being distracted by other irrelevant things. Simple things may turn out the best and may even have more meaning behind them. From leayords work, the art of capturing the perfect lighting and the perfect tone allows the photographer to change the whole meaning of the actual image. Attending to the detail, may allow a change.
